TIPS:
1. Write a minimum of 500 words to help to show development of your ideas.
2. Use of evidence is an absolute must. No evidence = Not Achieved. Use quotes (ideally) or specific reference to the text.
3. Set up your reaction clearly from the start. This grounds your response in a reaction and prevents slipping into an essay.
4. 'This shows that' type sentences are essays, not responses. Reframe these to be PERSONAL.
5. Don't skip from one idea to the next - develop your points by explaining WHY you think what you do. To develop your response, look at THIS doc.
6. Make sure you have gone beyond the text. What does it highlight about human nature and society? This is needed for Level 2.

Short Stories - Level 2 (older stories, more challenging reads)
Below are a selection of short stories. Some of these are difficult reads - you will probably need to skim read a few to find one that you want to respond to.
Keep scrolling for the more modern stories. They are in the next heading. You can also read any of the chapters of 'The Things they Carried' and respond to that. You can borrow a book.
